Don't forget to buy your Rod Licence before you fish!!
The Ottery Fly Fishing Club was formed in December 1914 the first full season being in 1915.
The Club has acquired a considerable number of fishing rights on the River Otter between Honiton and Tipton St. John in East Devon.
Fishing is principally for brown trout though there is now a small run of sea trout every year.
Only fly fishing is allowed. All anglers are asked to use barbless hooks.
Methods allowed are:
1. Upstream dry fly 2. Upstream nymph 3. Downstream wet fly with a maximum of two flies on a leader 4. Downstream fishing for sea trout
The river is not stocked in order to encourage the growth of locally spawned trout
Risk Assessment
The Club has produced a Risk Assessment to inform its members to the possible risks associated with fishing on any of its waters. Members should read the assessment so that they are aware of the risks and can take steps to ensure that they can fish safely.
